Background

The Leukaemia Research Fund (LRF) was established in 1960 and is the only national charity devoted exclusively to research into cancers of the blood and life-threatening blood disorders. The fund receives no government grants and relies entirely on voluntary donations.

The Challenge

The LRF was concerned about the performance of its website and sought an agency to give them a new look that would maximise the potential of their online presence. They wanted an informative site that would encourage enquiries, inspire people to donate and demonstrate the massive positive impact their work has on patients.

They needed a professional site that would cater for the needs of its main audiences including patients, carers local branches, fundraisers and the cancer research community, it was important that the site be presented in a way that would appeal to their various target markets.

Our Solution

Working closely with LRF’s fundraising team, Red Snapper created a site that has a professional look, simple feel and clear navigation. The design focuses on clearly distinguishing between different sections of their target market, ensuring that the right tone of voice is used for each audience - informative, caring and supportive for educational pages and upbeat, fun and inspirational for fundraisers.

The site has proven to be cost effective. By moving the Grant Information facility from a CD based format (distributed yearly) to an online searchable database, the Fund has saved on administrative time and production costs. Additionally, online donations and ecommerce has helped to boost the charity's funds.
