Background

The British Medical Journal (BMJ) is the largest organiser of medical recruitment fairs across the UK, running courses, seminars and offering careers advice to help those in the medical profession find a new job and identify alternative career pathways.

The Challenge

The BMJ have been running their National Careers Fair in London since 1999. In 2005 the Journal took the largest medical recruitment fair to Scotland. This year, in an effort to reach more people, BMJ will also host fairs in Wales, Ireland and the Midlands.

The BMJ wanted each location to be clearly branded, with its own dedicated microsite, leaflets, brochures and advertisements. They wanted a core theme to run throughout the 5 events to tie them together.

Our Solution

Red Snapper worked closely with BMJ’s marketing team to promote the 5 exhibitions, taking care not to totally isolate each location and chose a central theme to run throughout the entire Careers Fair – using different images for each location. Branded promotional materials are being created for each individual event as well as the BMJ Careers Fair as a whole.

Red Snapper has also created a dedicated Careers Fair website that enables registered users to book and pay online for seminars. Having an online registration facility has proved to be a cost effective solution for BMJ, cutting down on the administrative cost of thousands of registrations.
