Background

The UK Association of Online Publishers (AOP) is the industry body representing online publishing companies that create original, branded, quality content. AOP champions the interests of companies from newspaper and magazine publishing, TV and radio broadcasting, and pure online media.

AOP publishes original research, hosts forums, awards and summits, covering a range of topics - from managing online communities and adapting content to mobile, through to optimising partnership opportunities, SEO best practice, behavioural targeting and audience measurement.

The Challenge

Red Snapper won the pitch to design and build the new AOP website. The new site had to simplify site navigation, thereby improving usability, providing a far more streamlined user experience.

The CMS and site architecture had to present content in a variety of ways, suggesting related articles, or a range of content relevant to a specified topic area.

The aim was with the site relaunch was to add value to AOP's members by making the site a more valuable resource, and thereby better communicating key messages and activity information.

Our Solution

Red Snapper's solution includes a flexible and dynamic home page. It effortlessly brings together news, research, case studies and event information into one clean, cohesive, and engaging design.

The home page includes a roll over viewing panel to highlight key topics. The calendar is customised for each registered user, enabling them to view relevant meetings, add them directly to their outlook calendar, join LinkedIn discussions and explore other AOP activities with ease. And an improved topic search drills down to content with greater efficiency.

Within the site improved classification and tagging of content has greatly improved the user experience; all inter-related press releases and case studies are now linked, offering easy access to information as the user browses through the site.

The dedicated member's area provides content areas for information on suppliers and associate members. And a bespoke eCommerce system allows members to book places at events and awards with greater flexibility for payment options.

"We're delighted with the new-look AOP website. The principle aim of the redesigned site is to provide our members with a more dynamic, effective, and usable resource; we've delivered a much more intuitive, user-friendly site, since we have a rather discerning audience to please: online publishers."
